The history of fishing through the centuries is the
history that depicts a close relationship between man and his surroundings.
The successful fisherman has always had an intrinsic knowledge of his
maritime environment and developed his method of fishing in accordance
with his observations.
It is this knowledge, intelligence and relationship
with nature that is the central theme of this series of documentaries.
MEN'S OCEANS is a study of the remaining traditional fishing techniques
that are still to be found, unchanged, around the world. How have they
survived?
What are these techniques and how are they transmitted?
This series pays homage to those traditional methods of fishing where
the respect for nature is the only way to survive.
