The Portuguese town of Evora is situated in Alentejo and surrounded by fields of wheat and cork-producing oak trees. Known for centuries as a cultural centre, Evora became renowned in the XVIth century for its painters and the great architects responsible for its most important monuments. Since 1968 this historical town has been listed World Heritage by the UNESCO. All the styles of the occidental culture through the ages are to be found in Evora - Roman, Gothic and Baroque - in the midst of which the local population lives and works.
Wandering through its narrow arched streets, one has the impression of walking through time.
