Since its creation in 1976, the "Musiques Métisses" Festival has helped to promote music from the Caribbean, from the Indian Ocean and from Africa. This year (1999), the festival celebrates of the 150th anniversary of the abolition of slavery (1849), an occasion of intense festivities.
