The Cabo Verde islands are situated in the South
Atlantic, approximately 312 miles from Senegal and about 5 hours flight
from any of the principal European capitals. Of the 10 existing islands,
9 are inhabited. They enjoy a dry, tropical climate freshened by a permanent
maritime breeze. The average temperature is 25° centigrade and that of
the sea varies from 21 to 26° depending on the season.Volcanic by origin,
the Cabo Verde archipelago is strongly contrasted and its islands offer
much diversity. The high mountains of Santiago, Santo Antao, Sao Nicolau
Sao Vicente, Santa Luzia, Fogo et Brava are very different from Maio,
Boavista and Sal with their low plains and dunes. All the islands are connected
by plane and not one flight exceeds 40 minutes. Thanks to their enjoyable
climate, the Cabo Verde Islands are becoming increasingly popular with
tourists.
