Shot in Yves Saint Laurent's private residences
in Paris, Marrekech and Deauville, and during the preparation of his latest
haute couture collection, the film is a journey through the life and the
work of this mythical designer.
Creations, selected from thirty years of collections and worn by his favourite
models, appear and fade away: ephemeral works of art that trace the history
of fashion and reveal the artistic, literary and musical influences which
have inspired their creator.
The narrative, spoken by Yves Saint Laurent and Jeanne Moreau, tells of
his life: joys, sorrows, fears and hopes. He reflects upon
the past and the future with tenderness and lucidity but also with severity.
"I invented the modern woman's past, I offered
her her future, and that will last long after my death." YSL
